Googling for UAS and power management yields nothing.Ĭan anyone help or know of any way I can get my new drive to power down when not in use? I've also tried to use Seagate's Drive Setting tool which supposedly allows power management but it doesn't recognise my drive as I suspect it's designed for some older Seagate HDs. I've tried to manually update the UAS driver to "USB Mass Storage Device" but it isn't listed as an option. The Seagate however, is listed under "USB Attached SCSI (UAS) Mass Storage Device" and this doesn't have a "Power Management" tab and so I can't set the same option. This was good as the drive would spin down when not in use thus saving power and wear and tear which was most of the time as it was only used for backup once a day. The Verbatim drive was listed under "USB Mass Storage Device" in Device Manager and I was able to enable the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" on the "Power Management" tab. I have used a Verbatim 500GB external USB 3.0 drive and just replaced it with a a Seagate 2TB Expansion drive.
